Evan Atlantis

My qualifications include a B.App.Sc. (Exercise and Sport Science) in 2002 and Ph.D. in 2005 (fast-tracked), both at The University of Sydney. I have been awarded research fellowships on a continuous basis from 2005 to 2018. My current appointment is Senior Lecturer, School of Health Sciences, Western Sydney University. With around 80 peer-reviewed publications (43 first-authored, 18 senior-authored) cited over 6,000 times (H-index 40, Google Scholar), I am recognized internationally for my extensive expertise in clinical research on obesity and related chronic diseases. As the founding president of the National Association of Clinical Obesity Services (NACOS) Incorporated, I actively lead the development of strategies to improve the standards of obesity assessment and management in clinical obesity services across Australia's healthcare system. Additionally, I serve as the founding co-director of the Western Obesity Worldwide (WOW) research collective, housed within the Translational Health Research Institute (THRI). Over the last five years, I have established a track record in developing the national Position Statement on Clinical Obesity Services in Public Hospitals, the National Framework for Clinical Obesity Services, and clinical education for obesity care through effective engagement with relevant stakeholders including NACOS, ANZMOSS, ANZOS, and Healthed.
